I first started playing snooker about 14 years ago when I
was 15. I took to it quite quickly and soon made a 50 break. In my
desperation to improve I read everything I could about the technical side of
the game. I found the advice of Frank Callan particularly useful and used it
in my game. I also set up a league team and we won the division title in our
first season.
Despite these successes I knew that due to bad habits in my
technique and lack of coaching I would never be a professional. However I
continued to read about and study the game and my snooker has continued to
improve. During this time fellow players would ask me about their techniques
and how they could improve and I would happily give them advice. I thought
nothing of it.
Then in 2006 I suffered from health problems which forced me
to look away from the standard office jobs. Suddenly it dawned on me that I
was destined to coach snooker. I took the WPBSA course, run by Del Hill and
Mike Dunn, and qualified as a World Snooker Coach. Since then I have helped
many players with their games and I am also coaching some promising juniors.
I continue to play the game and have made centuries at my local club as well
as competing in local competitions. I enjoy coaching and I think there is
always something new that can be learned about the game. I coach in
Northampton but it has good road links so if you want some coaching please
